In the past blessed month of Ramadan, in which Muslims all across the world fast from dawn to dusk to feel thankful, grateful and spiritually uplifted, The Dicle Islamic Society invited local community members to join us and experience a day in the blessed month of Ramadan. The Dicle Islamic Society successfully organized 60 Iftar dinners at two different locations in Toronto, the Nile Academy’s Scarborough and Blue Haven Campuses. Two traditional Iftar tents were prepared to serve our guests. People from different walks of life and backgrounds attended these Iftar dinners. Thanks to our volunteers and community members, there were more than 5,000 Iftar dinners served during the month of Ramadan. Various community representative from, Afghanistan Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tataristan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Yaqutia, Bosnia, Albania, Bulgaria, Guyana and Somalia attended these events. Furthermore, Members of Parliament, Ambassadors and Diplomats along with organizations, such as Toronto Police enjoyed these dinners and gained an insight on what Muslims celebrate during the blessed month of Ramadan.
